Single/Double Glazing

Fastglass
can help with:
Repair of existing windows and doors
Unfortunately; many timber windows suffer from rot
and need regular patching, filling and re-painting. PVC-U windows and doors
are very low maintenance, needing little more than a quick wipe over.
Improving the appearance of your home
Shabby, old-fashioned windows and doors can be replaced with new styles and
shapes to significantly change and improve the look of your home and give
it "kerb appeal" - and the same is true for roofline products.
Improved security
Sad to say, but crime is rising and doors and windows are a common entry
point for burglars. Our PVC-U double glazing window systems incorporate
extra security features including special locks, to protect your home.
Better weather performance
Do your curtains move when the wind gusts? Do you get a chill from window
draughts? Does rain leak in around your windows? Now's the time to seek the
excellent weather performance of modern PVC-U double glazing windows tested
to withstand gale force conditions.
Reduced noise
Do you live on a busy street or road? Does passing noise irritate you? The
latest double glazing PVC-U windows can significantly decrease the amount
of noise 'transmitted' through your windows for a quieter, peaceful home.
Energy efficiency
The latest double glazing windows offer much better insulation than
conventional single glazing windows. New windows help to keep the heat in,
so you can turn down the heating a degree or two and save on fuel bills in
perfect comfort.
Low E Glass and Document L of
Building Regulations
Most
people are aware that effective 1st April 2002 - all replacement double
glazing window installations in England
& Wales
are subject to Building Regulations. This new regulation in particular
affects the minimum levels of insulation that replacement double glazing
windows must have when fitted in your home. Levels of insulation are
measured as U values. The lower the U value, the better the insulation
level. To get the required level of insulation some sort of LOW E glass
(typically Pilkington K in the UK - although there are other
brands) will have to be used. It may also be necessary for the sealed
double glazing units to be Gas Filled (probably Argon).
